Matias Regis, the technical adviser for Special Concerns of the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center said Vice Mayor Baste will represent Davao City and sign the initial sister city agreement which was approved by the City Council Tuesday.
Regis said Baste will visit Jinjiang and Chongqing for a business meeting with its officials. Davao has two existing Chinese sister-city agreements -- with Jinjiang in Fujian and Nanning.
Baste's Chongqing trip is a reciprocal visit following an invitation by Chinese officials who visited Davao City two months ago for exploratory talks on the sisterhood agreement.
During their September visit, Chen Min'er, the Chinese Communist Party Secretary for Chongqing discussed the possible entry of Chinese investors in Davao City.
Chongqing is China's manufacturing hub and known for producing electronic gadgets such as laptops.
