By Noreen Jazul A nine-year-old boy from Amsterdam is set to become the youngest person to finish a bachelor's degree.

(Instagram / MANILA BULLETIN) In a span of nine months, Laurent Simons will finish his electrical engineering course at Eindhoven University of Technology in December. The half Dutch, half Belgian child prodigy has "an IQ of at least 145," The Daily Telegraph reported. Simons' father Alexander told the Daily Telegraph about his son's plans after college. "Laurent's aim is to do a PhD into life extension, by carrying out research into artificial organs and robotics," Alexander said. In another interview with CNN, Alexander and wife Lydia said it was Laurent's grandparents who first noticed their son's exceptional capability. Lydia jokingly said that her son probably got the gift of fast learning because she "ate a lot of fish" during her pregnancy. The person who currently holds the title of youngest person to finish college is Michael Kearney who gained his degree at 10 from the University of Alabama.
