Pasig City declares amnesty for traffic violators, urges drivers to claim confiscated licenses

By Jhon Aldrin Casinas The Pasig City government has urged delinquent drivers to claim their confiscated drivers’ licenses following the imposition of an amnesty for traffic violators.

(KEVIN TRISTAN ESPIRITU / MANILA BULLETIN) Mayor Vico Sotto announced Monday that drivers cited for traffic violations before October 19 could now avail of the Ordinance Receipt Violation (OVR) Amnesty. He said violators will have to pay the fine for the traffic violation, with a maximum penalty of up to 10 percent only. “Aalisin na ang 2 percent kada araw na penalty (The 2 percent penalty imposed everyday will be removed),” he added Sotto said erring drivers may claim their licenses until April 3, 2020. The Pasig City Traffic Parking and Management Office (TPMO), he said, have been encoding its OVR records to the database of the Land Transportation Office (LTO). “Tigilan na natin ang pagkuha ng ‘affidavit of loss’ para makaiwas sa pagbayad ng ticket (Let us stop getting ‘affidavit of loss’ to avoid paying a ticket),” Sotto stressed. “Huwag na nating hintayin na magkaproblema tayo sa renewal (Let us not wait for us to have a problem in renewing our drivers’ license),” he added.
