Cristeta "Cris" Comerford, the first Asian and first female executive chef at the White House, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the University of the Philippines.

The honorary degree was conferred upon Comerford at Ang Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman, Quezon City on Monday.
Comerford studied BS Food Technology in UP Diliman before migrating to the United States with her family in 1983.
The Filipino-American chef was first appointed as executive chef at the White House in 2005 by former First Lady Laura Bush, wife of then US President Geoge Bush.
In 2009, she was re-appointed by Michelle Obama as the head chef of the Obama administration.
