Jail visitor nabbed for hiding shabu in hotsilog A jail visitor ended up behind bars after trying to smuggle sachets of shabu concealed in a packed breakfast meal inside the detention cell of Fairview Police Station (PS-5) in Quezon City early Tuesday. Authorities identified the suspect as Camie Olaguer, 27, a resident of Barangay Gulod, who was arrested for possession of illegal drugs. Police Lieutenant Jeffrey Bilaro, chief of PS-5 of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), said Olaguer went to the station located at Pearl Street in Barangay Greater Fariview around 3 a.m. to deliver food to his detained friend, Bon Marco Medina. Reports showed that Medina was arrested last week also for illegal drugs. According to Bilaro, the jail officer refused to allow Olaguer inside the cell as it was still non-visiting hours but the suspect insisted. When the duty officer inspected the food pack, he discovered five sachets of suspected shabu concealed in the "hotsilog" (hotdog, rice, and egg) meal. A disposable lighter was also found hidden inside the food which led to Olaguer's arrest. However, the suspect said she had no idea that there are sachets of illegal drugs hidden in the food pack as she was just instructed by Medina's family to deliver it to him. Olaguer is now under custody of PS-5 and will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (Alexandria San Juan) Woman with pending warrants of arrest collared by cops  An office staff with four pending warrants of arrest for the crime of Estafa was nabbed by police on Monday in Makati City. The suspect was identified as Veronica Cortez, 43, of  Brgy. East Rembo, Makati City. Cortez' arrest stemmed from the four arrest warrants issued against her for Estafa through through falsification of Public Documents. Investigation showed that the arrest was made at around 1:40 in the afternoon at  Ayala Ext.cor Yakal St., Ayala Ave, San Antonio, Makati City Cortez has an arrest warrant issued by Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 64 Judge  Hon. Judge Ma. Lourdes V. Barrios-Sapalo with a recommended bail of P6,000. She also has one from MTC Branch 66  Hon. Judge Niño Delvin E. Embuscado with a recommended bail of P6,000. Another arrest warrant issued by MTC Branch 61 Hon. Judge Ma. Concepcion A. Billones with recommended bail of P80,000. Lastly, a warrant of arrest issued by MTC Branch 61 Hon. Judge Ana Teresa T. Cornejo- Tomacruz  with a recommended bail of P6,000. (Dhel Nazario) Suspected hold-upper killed by police

A suspected hold-upper was killed in a police encounter at Barangay 12 in Caloocan City Monday evening.

Police identified the victim as Ben-Ar Enriquez, resident of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City; and the suspect as Eduard Raagas Navarete, 39, jobless, resident of Barangay 12, Caloocan City.

Enriquez reportedly told barangay officials that he was held up and robbed by the suspect.

Police officers, led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Northern Metro Manila District Field Unit, then launched a follow-up operation with the victim who pointed Navarete to them.

But when the lawmen tried to approach the suspect, he drew his caliber 9mm pistol and open fired.

The police cornered and retaliated at Navarete by shooting at different parts of his body, leading to his instant death.

Recovered from the crime scene were the caliber 9mm firearm loaded with a magazine and two live ammunition, 10 sachets of suspected shabu, five fired cartridge cases of unknown caliber, two cartridges of unknown caliber, a deformed fired bullet of unknown caliber, and P2,000 in cash.

The suspect's body was brought to Eusebio Funeral Homes for autopsy examination.

More than P230k worth of shabu seized in Caloocan stings

More than P230,000 worth of suspected shabu were seized from four drug suspects in separate buy-bust operations in Caloocan City Tuesday.

First to be arrested were Andrea Umali, 29, resident of Novaliches, Quezon City; Elmer Correche, 50, resident of Barangay 178, Camarin, Caloocan City; and Jonathan Yco, 46, resident of Barangay 177, Camarin, Caloocan City; in a sting at Barangay 178 in Caloocan at about 1:30 a.m.

The three were reportedly arrested after they transacted a drug deal with a poseur buyer.

Six sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 15 grams and worth about P102,000, drug paraphernalia, and the P500 marked money were retrieved from the suspects.

At about 3:35 a.m., Jeffrey Tamos, 28, resident of Barangay 12, Caloocan City; was nabbed in a drug bust in the area after he reportedly sold sachets of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer.

Recovered from the suspect were four sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 20 grams and worth about P136,000; and the buy-bust money.

The arrested suspects, who are now under police custody, will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Minka Tiangco)
