Establishments in Valenzuela City with dirty restrooms may now be penalized under a new city ordinance.

Chapter 12 of City Ordinance No. 557 Series of 2019, the Sanitation Code of Valenzuela City enumerates the requirements for public toilets and penalties for violations.
The ordinance states that all public toilets must have proper flooring, whether with cement or tiles, a toilet bowl with a functioning flushing system and septic tank, and a proper door that can be locked from the inside.
Enough water supply, a sink with some soap, and a proper trash can are also required for public toilets.
Establishments with a capital expenditure of P250,000 also need to have bidets in their comfort rooms.
Public comfort rooms must also be cleaned with a disinfectant at least once every 24 hours.
First-time offenders will be asked to pay a fine of P2,500 and P5,000 on the second offense.
On the third offense, the city government will close down the establishment and nullify its business permit.
Residents are encouraged to report errant establishments to the Valenzuela City Health Office-Sanitation Unit at 8352-1000 local 1110 or to Task Force Disiplina at 8352-8000.
