(MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) ‘’Bakit nila biglang gustong gawing anti-drug czar ang sinabi nilang hindi maaring pagkatiwalaan?’’ he asked. (Why the sudden offer to the Vice President to become a drug czar after publicly stating that she could not be trusted?) Pangilinan asked aloud whether the offer was simply to divert attention from the ‘’dismal failure’’ of President Duterte to wipe out the intractable illegal drugs problem the past three years. Critics questioned the limited time given to Robredo to solve the problem in a matter of six months. ‘’Ano ba talaga ang totoo? Maliwanag na wala silang isang salita sa usaping ito at gagamitin lang na patibong dahil pruweba mismo ang olats nilang drug war pagkatapos ng tatlong taon, libo-libong patay na mahihirap na Pilipino, tone-toneladang na-smuggle na shabu, pinapakawalang drug lords at mga kasabwat sa gobyerno at hindi pinaparusahang mga “ninja cops” na kaalyado ng administrasyon,’’ he asked. It is a fact that the administration has failed its drug war the past three years where thousands of poor Filipinos had been killed, tons of ‘’shabu’’ (crystal meth) had been smuggled into the country, drug lords had been allowed to escape with the connivance of the government that has not meted punishment to its allies, the so-called ‘’ninja cops,.’’) ‘’At hanggang walang malinaw na offer, mukhang lokohan lang ang nasabing mungkahi,’’ he pointed out. (Until there is a serious offer, this thing is a joke.) ‘’Kayang-kaya namang solusyunan ng gobyerno ang problema ng droga: hulihin, kasuhan, at ikulong ang mga malalaking drug lord at mga opisyal ng BoC na nagpalusot ng toneladang shabu at panagutin ang mga “ninja cops” na nagpapatakas sa kanila. Gawin lang nila,’’ Pangilinan said. (The national government can easily solve the illegal drugs problem by simply arresting, filing charges and put to jail the drug lords and Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials that allowed tons of ‘’shabu’’ to be smuggled out of the waterfront and slap criminal charges against the ‘’Ninja cops.
