BUTUAN CITY – A 3.9 magnitude earthquake jolted Surigao del Norte province Monday morning, Oct. 28, 2019, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was recorded at 6:33 a.m.
The epicenter was plotted only 8 kilometers (km) northeast of San Francisco town (Anao-aon),Surigao del Norte province.
The tremor had a depth of 12 km, Phivolcs said.
Intensity 2 was also registered in Surigao City.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and no aftershock or tsunami alert was raised by the state agency.
The provincial disaster risk reduction and management council there reported no damage or injury.
Surigao del Norte Gov. Francisco T. Matugas immediately alerted rescue teams and personnel of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) to check the residents in San Francisco town.
San Francisco town was heavily devastated when a 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck the province in February, 2017.
