Customs fills over 500 vacant plantilla positions, more to be hired, promoted this year

Over 500 vacant plantilla positions in the Bureau of Customs (BOC) have already been filled as of September, following the addition of 64 newly hired and promoted personnel this week.

(MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) A total of 547 plantilla posts in the bureau have been filled as of September 27, Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero said, noting that the agency aims to fill 1,000 plantilla positions this year. “As of September 27, 2019, the Human Resources Management Division has filled 547 plantilla positions nationwide with 899 applications either for deliberation or awaiting schedule for interview,” Guerrero said. “The bureau continues to hire new Customs personnel in order to bolster the agency’s capabilities in enhancing trade facilitation and providing a better overall port user experience to stakeholders,” he added. The commissioner, during the oath taking ceremony of the newly hired and promoted Customs personnel, urged them to remain faithful to their sworn duty and to deliver what is expected of them by the general public. The customs chief also expressed confidence that the bureau will achieve its goal to hire and promoted customs personnel to fill the 1,000 vacant positions. “With the current rate the hiring process is going, the Bureau of Customs will definitely achieve its target of strengthening its manpower in order to effectively perform its mandate of securing our borders nationwide and to collect the proper revenue due government which would greatly help in the development of the country’s economy,” the commissioner said.
