SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga – Gov. Dennis Pineda on Thursday ordered the suspension of five prison guards of the Pampanga Provincial Jail (PPJ) after a Korean murder suspect escaped in Tarlac City on Wednesday
Pineda also ordered the filing of a case against Prison Guards 1 Randy Sibug, Clarito Mendoza, Danilo Gonzales, Danigen Aragon and Carlo Layag for “infidelity in the custody of prisoner.” The guards were also ordered confined to the jail while the investigation into the escape of Park Wang Yeol is being investigated.
Based on police reports, Park and the guards went to an eatery in Barangay San Rafael, Tarlac City after his arraignment before a Regional Trial Court Branch 64 was reset.
The five guards allegedly went to the table to order food while the prisoner went to the toilet.
When the guards checked what was taking Park so long at the toilet, they found that he had escaped through a ventilation window.
The Korean had been detained at the provincial since 2016 on three counts of murder in Bacolor, Pampanga. He was also facing charges of illegal gun possession in Tarlac, which required him to be arraigned in Tarlac City.
