Bishop-elect Jose Alan Dialogo has asked prayers from his fellow priests and the faithful following his appointment as bishop of the Diocese of Sorsogon.

Prayer," he told Church-run Radyo Veritas, Wednesday. Dialogo said he needs prayers as he prepares to take on his new role. "While I'm preparing I need the prayers," he said. Dialogo said he looks forward to meeting the clergy of Sorsogon. "I'm excited to meet them and I'm also praying for the Diocese the whole flock of Sorsogon which God entrusts to me," he said. The Bishop elect said he is also praying for his predecessor Bishop Bastes for his retirement and good health. Bastes on Tuesday announced that Pope Francis has appointed Dialogo as the new bishop of Sorsogon. Bishop Bastes reached the mandatory retirement age of 75 last April. Before his appointment, Dialogo serves as Director of the Jaime Cardinal Sin Welcome Home, a facility for retired priests of Manila, in Sampaloc. Bastes will serve as Apostolic Administrator of the diocese until Dialogo formally assume his new post.
