Paranaque police seize P500,000 illegal drugs in 3-day operation

By Joseph Pedrajas More than half-a-million worth of illegal drugs were seized by the police in a "One Time Big Time" operation conducted in ParaÃ±aque City over the past three days.

(Photo courtesy of SPD-PIO / MANILA BULLETIN) Joint members of the ParaÃ±aque City Police Station, Southern Police District (SPD), Regional Mobile Battalion Force (RMBF) and police Special Action Force (SAF) confiscated 325 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 105 grams and eight sachets of suspected marijuana weighing 60 grams, with a combined value of P714,500, from 21 alleged drug users and four alleged drug pushers. Police said that authorities also arrested some 631 individuals during the three-day operation, with 11 of them yielding 13 illegal firearms and 11 bladed weapons. The firearms confiscated included: two .45 caliber firearms, one 9 mm firearm, seven .38 caliber firearms, and three replica firearms. A total of 19 firearms were also surrendered in an "Oplan Katok" operation, including five .45 caliber firearms, one 9 mm firearm, four .38 caliber firearms, six .22 caliber firearms, one rifle and two .32 caliber firearms. During a media presentation of the arrested individuals Thursday morning, regional police Director Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar also said that police confiscated 24 motorcycles and one tricycle when they conducted checkpoints, Oplan Sita and Oplan Bulabog. Meanwhile, 554 individuals were issued ordinance violation receipts during checkpoints and Oplan Sita and after they were caught smoking in public and littering. The SPD public information office said that the OTBT is an "ongoing thrust of SPD, the regional police, and the national police against criminality and illegal drugs through large scale operations in a specific area within a specific period of time," with 1,085 SPD personnel leading the operation.
