City hall employee dead after getting hit by passing PNR train

A 54-year-old man died after he was hit by a passing Philippine National Railways (PNR) train while crossing the railway track in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday early morning.

The police identified the fatality as Florante Aguilar, married, resident of Ma. Guizon Street, Tondo, Manila and employee of the Manila City hall engineering department.

According to Corporal Marvin Lais of Jose Abad Police Station, a closed circuit television footage showed Aguilar crossing the railroad track when a southbound PNR train side swiped him at around 6:12 a.m. on Oct. 2. along Triangulo-Solis in Tondo, Manila.

Signs suggested that Aguilar was dragged along the railroad track for around 80 meters.

Lais said Aguilar was on his way to buy pandesal when he was struck by a train.
