Bureau of Immigration welcomes new deputy commissioner

  By Jun Ramirez The three-man board of commissioners of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) is again complete after President Rodrigo Duterte appointed lawyer Aldrin Alegre as the new deputy commissioner. Bureau of Immigration (Manila Bulletin) Bureau of Immigration (Manila Bulletin File Photo) Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente and the BI rank and file employees welcomed Alegre to the bureau last week when he assumed the office vacated on April last year by then BI deputy commissioner, now social welfare undersecretary, Aimee Neri. “We are pleased to welcome him to the BI family. His credentials as a seasoned practicing lawyer and certified public accountant show he is highly capable of helping us achieve our programs and visions for the bureau,” Morente said in a statement. Alegre, 41, started his law practice in 2007 after graduating from the Philippine Law School and passing the 2006 BAR exams. He served as a managing partner of the Paredes Alegre Quiño Law Offices. He is also a regular guest and resource person in CNN Philippines’ “Serbisyo All Access” program and writes a legal column for the Asian Journal newspaper, which is published in the United States.
