Barrameda family pleads with Guevarra to stop dismissal of parricide case vs Ruby Rose's husband

By Jeffrey Damicog The family of slain Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez on Monday has appealed to Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra not to allow the dismissal of the parricide case against her husband. Guevarra please take notice at the parricide case concerning the death of Ruby Rose),” said Asuncion Barrameda, the mother of Ruby Rose. The family made the appeal after Malabon City Acting Presiding Judge Edwin Larida Jr. of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 170 issued an order dated August 15 which granted the motion of the husband of Ruby Rose, Manuel Jimenez III, to dismiss the parricide case against him. Meanwhile, the Barrameda family has filed before the RTC a motion for reconsideration (MR) that was filed by their own legal counsel, lawyer Alvaro Lazaro, last Wednesday (Sept. 25) asking not to dismiss the case. Actress Rochelle Barrameda, the sister of Ruby Rose, lamented that the judge not only dismissed the parricide but also the murder case against his co-accused last July 10. Those whose murder case was dismissed were Manuel’s father lawyer Manuel Jimenez Jr., Lennard Descalso and Norberto Ponce. “Nagulat na lang kami na dismiss ang murder case ng sister ko July 10, 2019 (We were surprised that the murder case concerning my sister was dismissed last July 10),” Rochelle said. “Blanko kami. Umaasa kami na parricide case gumana. Pero wala pa isang buwan dismissed ulit (We have no idea what to do. We were banking on the parricide case. But barely a month the parricide case was dismissed),” she added. Following the dismissal of the cases, Rochelle said she called up the prosecutor handling the case for advice and asked whether they should file a motion for reconsideration. “Ang sagot niya di na kami pwede gumawa nun. So feeling naming di na kami pwede ipag tanggol. Pwede naman pala file MR nung may iba ako nakausap ng abogado. Sana sinabi niya na you ask another lawyer to file MR (He said we cannot do it. So we felt they cannot defend us. But we learned from another lawyer we can still file a MR),” she recounted. Ruby Rose went missing in 2007 when she was supposed to visit her children at the residence of her parents-in-law in Paranaque City. Her remains were later discovered in 2009 inside a drum that was filled with cement in Malabon.
