Initial investigation showed that the dump truck lost its break and crashed into the rear of a passenger bus while traveling en route to Biñan, Lagune. Due to the impact, the bus collided with another bus.
Things got even messier when the private car, trailer truck, and the closed van also got snarled in the accident.
The fire, which came from the dump truck, started at around 5:20 a.m.
It was declared fire out at around 7:03 a.m., CNN Philippines reported.
The dump truck’s driver and passenger sustained minor injuries. Both were rushed to the hospital.
Major Jonathan Abuel Asnan, chief of the Cavite Provincial Police Office Operations Branch, citing a report from the Carmona police, identified the injured as Doy Yanga Espiritu, driver; and Edmond Cornelio Lauitiya, both of Porac, Pampanga.
The drivers and other passengers of the five vehicles were able to jump off from their vehicles.
Rommel Peneyra, head of the Carmona Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), said the incident caused heavy traffic in the area. But as of this posting, all lanes have already been cleared and were already passable.
The Carmona-Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also conducted flushing operations to clear the road of any oil spillage.
Further investigation is ongoing as authorities determine the load of the dump truck. (with a report from Anthony Giron)
