Manila Police District (MPD) Chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. on Wednesday said Chairwoman Guia Gomez Castro of Barangay 484, Zone 48, Sampaloc, Manila, has not reported for work since April 25, 2019, when she filed an indefinite leave of absence.

(Manila Police District Facebook page / MANILA BULLETIN) Danao had earlier named Castro as the suspected “drug queen” who was earlier tagged by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as the person conspiring with policemen in recycling shabu from legitimate operations. According to the Manila top cop, Castro already went into hiding but he is sure that Castro is not around the nation’s capital. “June, 2018 unang umugong sa MPD na mauupo bilang DISTRICT DIRECTOR si GENERAL DANAO at posibleng sumibat o nagtago na si Guia Gomez (It was in June 2018 when rumors about Danao’s likely assumption as MPD District Director started and this probably prompted Guia Gomez Castro to go into hiding.),” Danao said. With Castro reportedly in hiding, first councilor Antonio Calima has taken over her position since July 10, 2018. “It’s a public knowledge kung sino siya even before the time of President, matagal na ‘yan,” Danao said in an interview on Wednesday. “Kung wala kang kasalanan, why do you have to hide? If you have no illegal activity, especially on the involvement sa illegal drugs, then you have nothing to hide. Come out in the open, clear your name,” Danao said. “Ako kapag nalaman ko na may involvement ka sa illegal drug trade, sigurado may paglalagyan ka,” he added. Danao added that Castro is a “priority target” of the Manila Police District crackdown on illegal drugs. On Tuesday, Metro Manila police chief Police Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the “drug queen” who was in cahoots with corrupt police officers is a barangay chairperson in Manila's Sampaloc district. Eleazar also said she is also wife of a former barangay chairman and had connections with so-called “ninja cops.” Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno urged the family of Castro to tell her whereabouts and to explain the allegations against them. “You should come out and explain your side,” Moreno urges Castro. Moreno called on all barangay officials to stay away from the illegal drug trade. “If we are strict with the ordinary folk, more so with barangay officials,” Moreno said.
