Manila Police District chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. identified the suspect as Eric Capulong, who was placed under the custody of the Manila Police District (MPD) Special Mayor's Reaction Team (SMaRT).
Capulong voluntarily surrendered to authorities at around 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 24, in Molino IV, Bacoor, Cavite, hours after he killed his partner in Tondo, Manila.
Capulong's live-in partner, was identified by police as Concepcion Beldad, 39, employee of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB).
Investigation showed Capulong and Beldad had a heated argument because the latter tried to break up with the suspect on September 23.
Beldad's skull was reportedly crushed after Capulong hit her with a hammer on the head. The relatives of Beldad rushed her to the Tondo Medical Center where was declared dead on arrival on early Tuesday morning.
Police said Capulong hit his wife because of jealousy. Capulong said he saw Beldad's social media posts showing the victim with another man.
MPD SMaRT chief Maj. Rosalino Ibay and Moreno coordinated with Capulong’s family that led to the suspect’s surrender.
The Mayor announced early Tuesday a P100,000 bounty for the capture of Capulong.
Domagoso also promised to give financial assistance to the victim's five children, two of whom are the suspect's children. The other three were the victim's children from a previous relationship.
Police are now preparing murder charges against the suspect.
