A 21-year-old construction worker is now locked up in jail after he was accused of “raping” a young female swine in Sual, Pangasinan.
The arrest of the construction worker stemmed from the complaint of an angry overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who sought police assistance after learning of the incident, the Pangasinan police said.
The complainant used the swelling and bleeding private part of the pig as evidence in filing a case of violation of Republic Act 8485 against the suspect before the Sual Police Station.
Aside from violation of R.A. 8485 (Violation of the Animal Welfare Act), the complaint also filed a case of grave scandal against his neighbor in Barangay Bolaoen.
What drew the ire of the OFW, according to the complaint, is that the eight-month-old gilt is supposed to be used as a source of livelihood for his family.
“The said animal will be used by the complainant/owner for breeding piglets and to be sold for additional income,” the police report stated.
The rape of the gilt occurred at a time when there is an African swine fever (ASF) scare.
The suspect is currently detained at the Sual Police Station pending the filing of the two cases against him.
