To provide better welfare services to vulnerable sectors, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will establish new centers and residential care facilities (CRCF) and improve the existing ones under its CRCF Infrastructure Project.
The project aims to give better care and welfare services to marginalized and disadvantaged individuals, groups, and families through the construction, rehabilitation, and improvement of the Department’s centers and residential care facilities.
At least 210 infrastructure projects in 71 DSWD centers and facilities, and four new centers will benefit from the P2.3-billion fund allocation.
The new facilities feature centers for children with special needs, and street children.
DSWD has conducted a virtual and actual inauguration of the completed projects last August 28 as part of the CRCF Project Workshop from August 27 to 31 in Cagayan de Oro City.
The virtual inauguration provided a venue to showcase the major accomplishments of the CRCF project via completed construction projects nationwide.
The activity also highlighted the inauguration of the Regional Haven for Women, a facility located at Barangay Ala-e, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon that is being managed by DSWD field office in Region 10.
The center, which provides temporary shelter and protective custody to women 18 years old and above who are victims of involuntary or forced prostitution, illegal recruitment, and abuse, has expanded the rooms, kitchen, and conference rooms in order to accommodate and serve more clients.
Apart from the Regional Haven for Women, other centers and facilities in Region 10 that have been improved through the CRCF Project are the Home for Girls, a residential institution in Cagayan de Oro City that provides protection, care, treatment and rehabilitation to abused and exploited girls below 18 years old; the Reception and Study Center for Children, also in Cagayan de Oro City, which caters to abandoned, neglected, and/or surrendered children up to 6 years old; and the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth, a residential facility in Cahulogan, Gingoog City which offers care and rehabilitation to children in conflict with the law.
