By Erma Edera A woman reportedly shot her husband and killed herself inside a vehicle in Quiapo, Manila on Thursday, a belated report from the Manila Police District (MPD) showed. Photo from MPD Police identified the woman as Ellaine Timola, 32, who died on the spot due to a gunshot wound in the head. On the other hand, her husband identified as Alex Timola, 32, remains under observation in Mary Chiles Hospital after sustaining a lone bullet wound in the head. Investigation showed the couple had just come from the barangay hall in the area and were discussing financial problems. They were reportedly buried in debt amounting to P2 million after they were both addicted to gambling, barangay hall officials told police. Police Staff Sergeant Roderick Magpale of the Crimes Against Persons Investigation Section (CAPIS) MPD said the incident took place in front of the YMCC Building on Bilibid Viejo Street, Quiapo, Manila at around 5:30 p.m. on August 22. Magpale said residents told them that they heard successive gunshots and traced the sound from a parked red Mitsubishi Mirage with plate number NBY-2826. Michael Appelido, 31, a security guard of the YMCC Building, said he checked the red car after hearing the gunshots. Appelido said he was surprised to see the bloodied body of a man and a woman. The security guard said he called help from village officials of Barangay 391, Zone 40, after seeing the victims. The barangay officials arrived to bring them to a hospital and found Ellaine dead on the passenger seat while Alex, seated on the driver’s side, was still breathing. Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) said the woman was holding a .38 cal. revolver, raising the possibility that she shot her husband first before she shot herself.
