Heavy downpour floods NAIA 4

By Rizal Obanil The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 4 was flooded Saturday due to the heavy downpour brought about by Tropical Storm “Ineng”.

(Screengrabbed from a video footage courtesy of Boy London) Ivy Nakar, a celebrity and fashion stylist, and one of the passengers of a plane that had just landed at NAIA Terminal 4 at the time of the incident, took a video footage which she posted on her Facebook page. From her videos, the floodwater reached the first step of the boarding ladders. Based on the time stamp, the video was recorded at around 11 a.m. Because of the flooding, passengers were not allowed to immediately disembark from their plane, she said in an interview. When they were allowed to do so, they were greeted by floodwaters which some of them had to wade through before they could transfer to a bus that would bring them to the arrival area. Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal said that the flooding occurred because Terminal 4 is the lowest point of the ramp from Terminals 2 and 3 seemingly acting as a catch basin for all the floodwater from the other terminals.
