Robredo's Angat Buhay program launches new classroom buildings in South Cotabato

Vice President Leni Robredo’s flagship Angat Buhay program and its private partners built classroom buildings in two public schools in South Cotabato.

Angat Buhay was able to provide two-classroom buildings for pre-school students of Tampakan Central Elementary School and Dole Cannery Central Elementary School through funding from its partner organizations Aklat, Gabay, Aruga Tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag- asa Foundation (AGAPP) and the Emcor and Jesus V. Del Rosario (JVR) Foundation.
Robredo, an advocate of the poor, said the construction of classrooms by Angat Buhay partners will complement the Department of Education’s program to address the need for more classrooms and facilities.
The DepEd has been building more structures in public schools across the country to accommodate the increasing number of students. Yet, classroom shortages still exist.
“Ang pinaka-panaginip po, sa dami po ng pangangailangan na classrooms sa buong Pilipinas, iyong hindi inaabot ng DepEd, hinihingi natin sa kanila,” Robredo said.
(Our dream, with the several schools in the Philippines, are in need of classrooms, is to request them for the areas that have not been reached by the DepEd.)
Apart from the classrooms, the two public schools in South Cotabato were also given tables and chairs and other educational materials for its teachers and students.
Public education is one of Robredo’s key advocacies in the implementation of her anti-poverty program.
Since her office launched Angat Buhay in 2016, it has built classroom buildings and dormitories for public schools in far-flung areas, such as in Calatagan, Batangas; Sumilao, Bukidnon; and Marawi, Lanao del Sur; among others.
Angat Buhay has mobilized P350 million worth of assistance to 193 areas nationwide in partnership with more than 250 private organizations.
