P1.4-M worth of shabu seized in Bacolod

(Photo courtesy of Bacolod City Police Office) Personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) conducted the drug bust around 5:30 p.m. against Maricar Chavez of Barangay 22. Chavez allegedly sold a shabu to a police agent for P1,000. Police also recovered from her seven more sachets of suspected shabu, and the P1,000 marked money. The drug haul came two weeks after the confiscation of P1.8 million worth of suspected shabu from Khalid Diacat, 18, a native of Lanao del Sur, who was arrested in a drug bust at Brgy. Vista Alegre on August 9. Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said they have been monitoring Chavez’s illegal drug activity for sometime now, adding it was her means of living since she has no job. Pico said Chavez is identified as a high value target because of the seizure of more than 10 grams of illegal drugs from her. Chavez, who refused to answer questions from the media, is detained at Police Station 8. She will be facing drug charges. The CDEU is still probing the source of the illegal drugs.
