14 drug suspects nabbed in QC sting At least 14 drug suspects including three minors were rounded up by the Quezon City police in separate anti-illegal drug operations in the City on Friday night and Saturday morning. First to be arrested by personnel of Quezon City Police District's Talipapa Police Station (PS-3) were Marie Recto, 46, Joel Santos, 53, Jason Abanilla, 42,  Kaye Leyson, 39, Danilo Caguindagan, 41, Anton Espinosa, 18, Rommel Bravo, 30, and Jerome Simine, 19. Three male minors were also rescued along with the group who were nabbed during a drug sting at Fatima Drive in Brgy. Pasong Tamo around 9 p.m. Friday. Police said the suspects were all newly identified drug personalities of their respective barangays. Seized from them were 10 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P24,400, and three sachets of marijuana fruiting tops. At around 1 a.m. Saturday, anti-narcotics operatives of Anonas Police Station (PS-9) arrested in a buy-bust Silvestre Conghe, 27 at Jacinto Street in Brgy. UP Campus. Confiscated from Conghe were two sachets of shabu and the buy-bust money. In Barangay Manresa, members of La Loma Police Station (PS-1) collared Joey Dela Cruz, 41, and Jonie Doyola, 27 on the corner of Mauban Street and Igdalig Street about 6 a.m. Saturday. PS-1 Drug Enforcement Unit personnel received a report from a concerned citizen on the illegal drug activity of the suspects. When verified, they were caught in the middle of a drug transaction. Police were able to seize from them eight sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P2,720. Arrested suspects are now under police custody and were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Meanwhile, the minors were turned over to QC-Social Services and Development Department (SSDD) for proper intervention. (Alexandria San Juan) 'Illegal drugs runner' arrested in San Juan buy-bust An alleged runner of illegal drugs was arrested by police in a buy-bust operation in San Juan City on Thursday, police said Saturday. Police Col. Ariel Fulo, city police chief, identified the suspect as Edgar Angeles, 37, of Barangay Batis, San Juan City. Angeles was nabbed on Thursday night in an alley along Dr. P. Narciso Street in Barangay Corazon de Jesus. The city police chief disclosed that Angeles, who is a tricycle driver, is a runner of illegal drugs catering to other tricycle drivers in the area. According to Fulo, Angeles was also a former member of a notorious “Salisi Gang” in Manila where he was previously arrested and jailed. He was freed in December last year after the case filed against him was dismissed. The suspect then moved to San Juan and started selling illegal drugs, Fulo said. Angeles was arrested after handing over a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover cop, probers said. Authorities also confiscated another sachet of suspected shabu from his possession. Angeles is currently detained at the police custodial facility facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Jhon Casinas) Former inmate gunned down in Pasay A former inmate of the Mandaluyong City Jail was killed after he was shot by still unidentified armed men in Pasay City on Friday. The victim was identified by police as Fernando Ibanez, 57, a resident of Twin Pioneer St., Extension, Barangay 189, Zone 20, Pasay City. Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 11:45 in the evening along Guiho Street, Barangay 145 Zone 16 Pasay City. Police said that at around 12:05 in the morning, they received a telephone call from a concerned citizen regarding a shooting incident that occurred at the said area Operatives were deployed to verify the report; upon arrival at the area, police saw the body of Ibanez, boring multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Witnesses said that the suspects fled to an unknown direction on foot. The victim's body was moved to Rizal Funeral Homes for autopsy. Police records showed that the victim was previously arrested for drug-related charges and was recently released from the Mandaluyong City Jail. (Dhel Nazario) Tricycle driver dead, passenger hurt in a road accident in Caloocan A tricycle driver died while his 64-year-old passenger was injured after they were hit by a passenger bus at the intersection of 10th Avenue and B. Serrano Street at Barangay 91 in Caloocan City Friday morning. Police identified the deceased victim as Dante Ignacio, resident of Balintawak, Quezon City; and the injured as Flordelisa Bintad, resident of Novaliches, Quezon City. The police are now hunting down the bus driver, identified as Jonathan Boque, who fled on foot after the accident. Investigation showed that at about 5:40 a.m., the tricycle was traveling along 10th Avenue headed towards Rizal Avenue Extension while the bus was traversing B. Serrano Street towards EDSA. The passenger bus then collided with the left side of the tricycle, pinning Ignacio between the two vehicles while Bintad sustained injuries. Both were rushed to the Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital but Ignacio died while receiving medical treatment at about 7:04 a.m. Boque will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury, and damage to property, police said.
