Due to apparent depression, a man allegedly shot dead his own wife, and his two young kids before killing himself in at a posh subdivision in Parañaque City on Monday afternoon.
Report by the Parañaque City Police showed that the incident was discovered at around 2:30 in the afternoon at Amythest St., Greenheights Subdivision Barangay San Isidro Parañaque City.
According to the statement of the family’s housemaid, she last saw the victims alive at about 12 noon inside their house. Before the discovery of the incident, she was asked by the father to buy olive oil from a nearby grocery store, leaving the house at around 12, and returning two hours later.
Upon her return, she saw that the main gate of the house was closed in which she tried to call out the family members but none responded. It was at that moment when the suspect’s mother-in-law happened to pass by the area.
According to Police Major Nicanor Lambino, chief of the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (SIDMS) of the Parañaque City Police, the mother-in-law regularly visits her grandchildren every morning to bring them treats.
One relative, according to police then decided to scale over the fence and they were surprised to discover the bodies of the victims.
Lambino said that the house was in order, and there were no signs of struggle nor forced entry since everything was intact. Yet, he mentioned that they were also waiting for the findings of the autopsy report if there weny signs of struggle from the victims.
The suspect and his son were found at the master's bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head. The son was found on the bed while the suspect was by the door after allegedly shooting himself.
The mother was discovered at the driver side of a Toyota Fortuner parked inside the garage with a gunshot wound to the head, while the daughter was found in a supine position at the sofa in the living room also with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to the initial assessment of investigators, first to have been shot was the mother, who was by the garage, inside the car. Lambino said the suspect next shot his daughter, then his son, before he shot himself.
Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) were able to recover a .45 cal pistol with a magazine loaded with six pieces of live ammunition. They also lifted four spent shell from the .45 cal firearm during the conduct of technical investigation at the crime scene.
Police also learned that the suspect actively goes to the shooting range.
The alleged mental and emotional changes in the suspect after he underwent coronary bypass surgery according to the witness was one of the circumstances that the police was eyeing as a possible motive. They were also looking at financial difficulties.
