Dennis Sytin to appeal indictment with DOJ in connection to murder of brother Dominic

Alan Dennis Sytin (Facebook) Alan Dennis Sytin (Facebook) Recently, murder and frustrated murder charges were filed before the Olongapo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) against Dennis and co-accused after the Department of Justice (DOJ) found probable cause to indict them. Meanwhile, Presiding Judge Richard Paradeza of the Olongapo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 72 issued on Monday arrest warrants against Dennis and his co-accused Ryan Rementilla. Their co-accused, self-confessed gunman Edgardo Luib, is already in police custody. “I will immediately file a Petition for Review with the Office of the Secretary of Justice to reverse the DOJ’s wrong and baseless Resolution,” said Dennis in a statement Tuesday (July 30). “I am determined to immediately set aside the false and baseless charges against me as it is my right and the right of the ‘clearly innocent’ to be free from the trouble, expense and anxiety of a protracted trial,” he added. Aside from Dennis, those also charged with him are self-confessed gunman Edgardo Luib and Ryan Rementilla who was fired by Dominic from United Auctioneers Inc. (UAI) due to alleged anomalies. The case concerns the shooting incident which took place on Nov. 28, 2018 in front of the Light House Hotel inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and resulted in the killing of Dominic and the wounding of his bodyguard Efren Espartero Jr. In a resolution, state prosecutors relied on the testimony of Luib who is also the childhood friend of Rementilla. “Respondent Sytin and Rementilla had all the ill-motives to perpetrate the murder as they were both disgruntled and angry at Dominic for terminating them from UAI and as regards respondent Sytin, for not giving him his shares in the company profits and excluding him from their business,” they cited. On the other hand, Dennis continues to insist on his innocence and denied knowing Luib whom he accused of having “fabricated supposed meetings with me.” Dennis said the panel ignored the Supreme Court (SC) ruling that “an extrajudicial confession is not the evidence competent to establish the probability that a person participated in the commission of the crime.” The businessman added that the SC also declared that such confession is considered “hearsay against him” and cannot be used.
