Prioritize Manileños when hiring, Isko tells businessmen in Manila

He said providing more jobs for Manileños would be a great formula to improve the peace and order situation in the City of Manila. “We can prevent criminals from rampaging our streets if people have decent jobs and decent pay,” Domagoso told the Makati Business Club. “Isa sa mga hiling ko sana, kung pwede lang, at least 70 percent of your employees are from the City of Manila,” he said. “This will be our formula to solve peace and order issues. We should create jobs.” Likewise, the mayor stressed that the Manila City government will cleanse its ranks of corruption, particularly in the issuance of business permits and licenses. “Business licenses and real property taxes are one of the centers of corruption. To combat corruption, we will minimize human intervention by applying technology into our practices,” Domagoso said. Domagoso recently signed Executive Order No. 8 which mandates the creation of the Bagong Maynila Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) in line with the new local government’s agenda to promote ease of doing business. The Bagong Maynila BOSS, located at the ground floor of the Manila City Hall, can cater to seven transactions simultaneously. Applicants for business permits would only have to go through three steps in one window in just one day: File, Pay, and Claim.
