Panaligan, who was elected last Friday as secretary-general of League of Cities of the Philippines, said that ISO 9001-2015 will be used by the city until 2022. ISO is a global non-governmental organization that was established in 1947 in Geneva, Switzerland and has a membership of 160 national standards institutes from different countries.
Panaligan said ISO 9001 has contributed immensely to various awards and recognitions that the city had obtained under his administration such as the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance award being conferred annually by the Department of Interior and Local Government.
In 2017 and 2018, DILG successively gave Seals of Good Local Governance to Calapan City for upholding the standards of transparency, integrity and service delivery highlighting its unique implementation of business friendliness, environmental management, and tourism, culture and arts program.
Also on that year, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) named Calapan as Most Improved City in Competitiveness and Most Competitive City in Resiliency for its outstanding grade on economic dynamism, infrastructure and government regulation.
In 2018, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) conferred to Calapan the Best in eGovernance on Business Empowerment Category as first prize winner.
Recently, the Department of Agriculture has given Calapan the prestigious Rice Achiever Award, which is awarded to local government units with the highest rice production in a given year in the region.
Panaligan said he has embarked this year on a pro-economic growth program that also encourages the growth of small and medium enterprises that provide livelihood opportunities to Calapan dwellers.
