It is with great pride that I congratulate our People's Champ Senator Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao for his victory where he showed the people of Filipino his tremendous ability in the field of boxing),” he said.
“Tulad ng aking mga kapwa Batang Maynila, si Pacman ay galing sa hirap at nagsumikap sa maraming aspeto ng buhay, mapa-pulitikal man o sa larangan ng boksing (Like my fellow Batang Maynila, Pacman came from the slums and he persevered to be great in many aspects in life, may it be politics or boxing)", he added.
The local of government of Manila made it possible for residents to view the Pacquiao-Thurman for free in basketball courts, covered courts and stadiums near them.
Pacquiao, an 8th -division boxing champ defeated Keith "One Time" Thurman via split decision to become the new WBA (Super) Welterweight World Championship at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada, Saturday evening (Sunday morning, Manila time).
