Through Executive Order No. 6, the Education Affairs Unit shall serve as the Belmonte’s arm in the implementation of the city’s education policies, plans, programs, projects, and services to ensure the delivery of quality education at all levels.
“It is the declared policy of the City to give priority to education with the vision wherein citizens are prepared to pursue their dreams, positively participate in society and compete in the global economy,” the EO read.
Functioning directly under the mayor’s supervision, the group shall serve as the local chief executive’s principal advisory, monitoring, and coordinating arm in any education-related policies and activities.
It shall also recommend evidence and performance-based programs where appropriations are driven by expected learning outcomes.
Furthermore, the unit shall also initiate strategic partnerships with various stakeholders, regularly gather baseline data on the city’s state of education, and exercise overall policy guidelines concerning all programs and activities of the city government in education.
It will also be tasked with maintaining an orderly records management system and making recommendations to the city mayor.
