Robredo camp cries 'harassment'

The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday cried harassment over the sedition complaint filed by the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group against her and 35 other individuals over the controversial "Ang Totoong Narcolist" videos.

The PNP-CIDG filed the complaint before the Department of Justice, with Peter Joemel Advincula, who claims to be the hooded man "Bikoy" in a series of anti-Duterte viral videos, as one of the respondents.
"If this is purely based on the outrageous statement previously given by Mr. Advincula, we can confidently say this is completely baseless and nothing more than plain and simple harassment," Robredo's spokesman Barry Gutierrez said.
"Kwentong kutsero na pinilit gawing batayan sa kaso (This is a tall tale forcibly turned into a case)," he added.
Gutierrez, who is also a legal adviser to Robredo, said they have yet to receive a copy of the complaint.
"As soon as we do, we will refer it to the VP’s lawyers for study and appropriate action," he said.
Among the respondents are opposition Senators Leila de Lima and Risa Hontiveros, former senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Bam Aquino, priests Father Flaviano Villanueva, Albert Alejo, and Robert Reyes.
Also included are Catholic Bishops Socrates Villegas, Honesto Ongtioco, Teodoro Bacani Jr., and Pablo Virgilio David, and former education secretary Armin Luistro.
Others named in the complaint were opposition Otso Diretso senatorial candidates Gary Alejano, Romulo Macalintal, Samira Gutoc, Erin Tañada, Florin Hilbay, and Chel Diokno.
“I have the honor to submit herewith and requesting appropriate action hereof, the pertinent records of investigation relative to the criminal complaint for Sedition, Inciting to Sedition, Cyber Libel, Libel, Estafa, Harboring a Criminal and Obstruction of Justice,” read the PNP-CIDG’s letter-complaint, signed by Lieutenant Colonel Arnold Thomas Ibay and submitted to the DOJ.
