The Department of Tourism (DOT) tagged Tagaytay as the top tourist destination in Region 4-A or the Calabarzon (Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon) area for years.
Tourism and Cultural Development Officer Jelanne R. Mendoza said visitors in the city have doubled in the first half of 2019, compared to the same period last year.
The figure is based on the gate entry records of the frequently visited public and private establishments, among them the Picnic Grove Complex, People's Park in the Sky, the Puzzle Mansion, Sky Ranch Amusement and Recreation Park, and the Residence Inn and Zoo, Museo Orlina, City Government Lakbay-Aral or Libraries and Desks and the Our Lady of the Manaoag at Tierra de Maria.
Mendoza said there were 2,641,447 tourists visited the eight establishments alone in the first six months of the year which was higher by 1,142,413 than in 2018.
The data showed that the number of tourists in the areas in the whole of 2018 totaled 4,216,403.
Mendoza said the day tourist arrival figures do not include those tourists who visited other parks and recreational areas and the restaurants and bars and/or have stayed at hotels, lodging houses, inns, apartments and other rented houses particularly along Aguinaldo Highway's seven-kilometer strip known as "One Destination Area."
Mendoza said that there are 466 business establishments that cater to tourists in the city.
Mendoza attributed the tourist influx to, among others, the invigorating climate, peace and order, the serene and the beautiful surroundings and proximity to the Metro Manila.
Mayor Agnes D. Tolentino and her husband, Cavite 8th District Representative Abraham N. Tolentino, welcome local and foreign tourists who wish to visit the city.
Tagaytay is 52 kilometers from southern Metro Manila and travel takes about one-and-a-half-hour or less between the two areas via the Cavite Expressway during non-peak hours.
Dominating the city is the panoramic view of Taal Volcano and Lake.
The mystical view of Taal, the world’s smallest volcano, and its surrounding lake, keeps the visiting people, especially couples and families, returning to the city. Some folk say that Tagaytay has the “magic” or charm that entice people to keep on coming back.
CNN once featured the city with the visiting Asian Bank of the Philippines (ADB) foreign delegates being amazed by the sight of the Tagaytay ridge overlooking the volcano and lake.
CNN reported that Tagaytay is scenic, relaxing and masterpiece of nature and visiting the area is an experience which creates lasting memory.
