The Bonifacio Shrine will once again be a ‘picture perfect’ venue, in contrast to its appearance as the ‘biggest toilet’ when Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso visited it on Wednesday.

City engineer Armand Andres said it took two days of heavy flushing, plenty of soap, bleaching products and muriatic acid to deal with human feces and urine that have been embedded at the Bonifacio Shrine.
Flushing and cleaning operations are ongoing and it will continue until Thursday night, Andres said.
Authorities also removed some 58 stalls obstructing the path of pedestrians in Kartilya ng Katipunan Park, where a monument of Emilio Jacinto could be found.
Andres said the state of the shrine was a result of six years of total neglect, operation of various stalls and eateries in the premises and absence of proper trash disposal system.
It can be recalled that mounds of human feces and smelly urine greeted the mayor on Wednesday morning when he paid a surprise visit to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Shrine, a stone’s throw away from his office at the Manila City Hall.
He immediately called up and asked Manila Police District Director Vicente Danao, Jr. to relieve the Lawton Police Community Precinct commander, PLt. Rowel Robles.
The mayor even accidentally stepped on human waste as he was conducting an inspection around the monument.
