By Hanah Tabios  Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso personally wielded a mallet to destroy a makeshift barangay hall-turned-barracks in Binondo, Manila on Friday. Ongpin was a wealthy businessman in Binondo who supported the Katipuneros—from arms, money and in any way he could. He died in 1912. Domagoso said that, aside from being illegal, the structure was obstructing the heritage, a campaign he had reiterated in his previous statements to bring back the glory of Manila. “Sabi kanina ni chairman, hindi kanila. Pagtalikod ko limang minuto lang, kanila na?” he told the press in an interview. “You have to find ways without violating or abusing your authority,” he added. Meanwhile, on Thursday, Domagoso also disclosed that his office rejected a proposal made by a private firm about the supposed construction of a 37-story building the would provide an undesirable background to Quiapo Church, the home of the Black Nazarene.
