Man died after being accidentally shot by drinking buddy in Caloocan A man died after he was accidentally shot by his drinking buddy in Caloocan City on Tuesday evening. P/Col. Noel Flores, Caloocan police chief, identified the victim as Jomar Selagan, 20, resident of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; while the suspect as Leo Mape, 19, resident of Caloocan. Police said that Selagan, Mape and a certain Christian De Oro, 19, were having a drinking spree in Barangay 185, Malaria when the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. De Oro told the police that Mape was showing them a still unidentified caliber of firearm when the suspect accidentally pulled its trigger, hitting Selagan in the upper right portion of his body. Selagan, who sustained a gunshot, was then rushed to Tala Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Police are still hunting down Mape, who immediately escaped during the incident.  (Joseph Pedrajas) Grab driver nabbed over P20k worth of shabu  A transport network vehicle service (TNVS) driver was arrested by the police after yielding more than P20,000 worth of shabu in a buy-bust in Quezon City on Tuesday night. Nabbed in the drug sting was 42-year-old Grab driver Diolan Santiago, a resident of Tala, Caloocan City. Police said Santiago was arrested by joint operatives of Quezon City Police District's Novaliches Police Station (PS-4) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in front of a sari-sari store on the corner of Cabesa Andres and Dominga Streets in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon. Initial report from PS-4 showed that authorities received information regarding Santiago's drug peddling activities for months now. Upon confirming the report, members of PS-4 Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with PDEA carried out the buy-bust around 10:30 p.m. An undercover officer purchased shabu from the suspect amounting to P2,500 which resulted in his arrest. Seized from Santiago were four sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P20,400, a mobile phone, and his Black Toyota Vios which police said was being used in the suspect's transactions. Santiago will be facing drug-related charges and is now under police custody. (Alexandria San Juan) Engineer charged of parricide after allegedly killing wife The Paranaque City police filed charges of parricide at the Prosecutors Office against an engineer who allegedly killed his 29 year-old an wife last June 11 inside their home. The suspect was identified as Engr. Noel Torres and a resident of Lot 5 Block 4, Saint Jude Street, Multinational Village, Barangay Moonwalk, Paranaque City. The police, however, did not give complete details as to why Torres became the person of interest in killing Christine who was found with 100 stab wounds on the different parts of her body inside their master bedroom. The police said that the complainant against Torres was Christine’s siblings. It can be recalled that the police said that the motive of the killing was robbery after finding the vault inside the master’s bedroom was ransacked containing jewelry, cash and other documents including the cellular phone of the victim were missing. Torres also voluntary gave a statement to the police to prove innocence on the crime and offered P500,000 to P1-million cash for the arrest of the killer after the killing. Torres in his statement to the police said that he left home at 9:15 a.m. on said date in going to his work and arrived home at about 4:11 p.m. The husband said that while he was at work the victim texted him that she will be preparing dinner. Torres said that upon arrival at their home, he immediately went to their altar to light the incense at their altar and repeatedly called Christine. He said that since Christine was not answering, he looked around the house and found the victim sprawled and bloodied that prompted him to call for assistance to his neighbor. (Jean Fernando) Woman gunned down by former lover over alleged love triangle Due to an alleged love triangle, a woman was gunned down by his former lover yesterday in Parañaque City. The victim was identified by police as a certain "Gigi Despi", who was clad in a blue striped shirt, maong skirt and white shoes. The suspect, on the other hand, was identified as a certain "Arnel Pareño". Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 9 in the morning along De Marso Street, Barangay Baclaran, Parañaque City. Police said that they received a phone call at around 9 in the morning regarding a shooting incident that occurred at the area.  A team was then dispatched who proceeded to the area to verify the report and saw the victim sprawled on the ground. According to the bystanders, the suspect fled to unknown direction with the firearm used. A follow-up operation was then conducted but the suspect was not found. Authorities lifted from the scene two empty shells of a caliber .45 and one slug. According to Parañaque City Police Chief Police Col. Rogelio Rosales, they are looking at love triangle as a possible motive since the suspect is the victim's former lover. He added that the two have already been separated for quite some time. The victim's body has been moved to the Rizal Funeral Homes. (Dhel Nazario) Two suspected motorcycle thieves arrested in Valenzuela Police arrested two men on Tuesday after allegedly selling and possessing a stolen motorcycle in Valenzuela City. The Northern Police District (NPD) identified them as Alex Sayat, 32, and Joshua Jagorin, of legal age. Police said that a certain John Ivy Villanueva, 21, filed a complaint against Sayat in Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) last Saturday after the latter failed to return the motorcycle that he lent him. On Tuesday, both Villanueva and Sayat went to the VCPS Anti-Carnapping Unit. Sayat told authorities that he sold the motorcycle to a certain Gandi in Baesa, Quezon City for P3,000. Members of the anti-carnapping group conducted follow-up information later that day and acted on the information that Sayat gave, leading to the arrest of Jagorin, who was already in possession of the alleged stolen motorcycle, in Quezon City. A case for violation of anti-carnapping law is being prepared against Sayat, while a case for violation of anti-fencing law is being prepared against Jagorin, police said. (Joseph Pedrajas) Cop shot dead in broad daylight by riding-in-tandem A Manila policeman was shot dead in broad daylight by two-motorcycle riding gunmen in front of a gas station in Quezon City on Wednesday. An initial report from Quezon City Police Station 7 showed that victim MSgt. Edgar Morada, a member of the Manila Police District (MPD), succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on his body. In a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained by the police, it appears that Morada was onboard his motorcycle parked in front of a gas station on the corner of Granada and Valencia Streets in Barangay Valencia around 12:55 p.m. Minutes later, two men riding a motorcycle, both wearing face masks, and helmets, appeared and repeatedly shot the unaware victim. Morada died on the spot while the gunmen immediately escaped from the crime scene. Probers said Morada was assigned to MPD's Ermita Police Station and was allegedly included in a watchlist of  "high-value targets" for his reported involvement in illegal drugs. Meanwhile, Quezon City Police District director PBGen. Joselito Esquivel Jr. condemned the incident and assured that an intensive investigation will be conducted to identify the assailants and to establish the motive on the shooting.
