New Novaliches bishop to be ordained August 22

By Christina Hermoso Newly appointed bishop Fr. Roberto O. Gaa will formally be ordained as the head of the Diocese of Novaliches in rites to be held on August 22 , the Memorial of the Queenship of Mary. Bishop-elect Roberto Gaa of the Diocese of Novaliches (Holy Family Parish-Pasig via CBCP / MANILA BULLETIN) Bishop-elect Roberto Gaa of the Diocese of Novaliches (Holy Family Parish-Pasig via CBCP / MANILA BULLETIN) The episcopal ordination of the 57-year-old bishop-elect will be held at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila at 9 a.m. Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle will serve as the principal consecrator while Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas and Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert C. Vergara will serve as co-consecrators. Gaa succeeds Bishop Antonio Tobias, now 77, and who has been serving as apostolic administrator of the diocese until Gaa’s installation. Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Tobias on June 6 and named Gaa as his successor. The mandatory retirement age for bishops is 75 years old. Gaa of the Archdiocese of Manila was rector of the Holy Apostle Seminary in Makati City upon his appointment.
