This year’s University of the Philippines Diliman commencement exercises on Sunday will be led by 55 summa cum laude graduates, a new record for the university.
According to the university, 1,058 graduates will receive the Latin distinction of magna cum laude, while 392 will graduate with cum laude honors.
Joshua Emmanuel Ramos, who is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree, obtained a weighted average grade of 1.096, well above the minimum 1.20 needed to graduate as summa cum laude and will speak on behalf of the graduating class.
They also said that a total of 3,981 students will receive undergraduate degrees, while 1,069 will be conferred graduate diplomas, master’s or doctoral degrees.
Amelia Lapena-Bonifacio, National Artist for Theater and also a professor at the UP College of Arts and Letters, will be the commencement speaker for the event.
