(Photo by OVP / MANILA BULLETIN) Robredo, in an interview, noted that there is so much more to do in the city after the months-long siege in 2017. Robredo’s last visit in Lanao del Sur was two months ago when she attended the provincial launch of “Ahon Laylayan Koalisyon Marawi” which brought together 1,000 leaders representing various sectors – traditional leaders/indigenous peoples, women, farmers, fisherfolk, youth, cooperatives, academe, CSOs/civic organizations and internally displaced person – in the province. Robredo led the turnover of classroom buildings to three schools in Marawi City during her visit. The classrooms were constructed for three schools including Harat Medina Central Elementary School, Mapandi Elementary School, and Bae Inomba Blo Bacarat Central Elementary School. The turnover of the said classroom buildings, the OVP said, was “through the generosity” of its “Angat Buhay” partners that include PhilAm Foundation, LBC Foundation, Double Dragon Properties Corp., Team Energy Foundation, and Jollibee Group Foundation. During her visit, Robredo noted that there are still so many schools that need help in terms of classrooms and other facilities. Robredo explained that the schools were chosen as beneficiaries in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd). She noted that the priority was given to those schools that are located in far flung areas. Robredo also led the turnover of 12 units in “Angat Buhay” village donated by Latter Day Saints Charities. Robredo noted that this is already the second batch of donations. The first batch –60 housing units – has been turned over. “Ang pinaka-target natin—kasi privately-funded ito – ay 100 houses in all,” she said. “Hopefully iyong 28 this year matapos na rin, actually, iyong pondo ready na, nandiyan iyong pondo ang wala lang talaga iyong availability ng lupa (We hope that the 28 this year will also be finished; actually there is fund for that, but there is no available land),” she explained. The “Angat Buhay Village” was implemented by the OVP through its Angat Buhay Program in partnership with Xavier University (XU)-Ateneo de Cagayan, Piso Para Sa Laban Ni Leni, Sigma Delta Phi – Southern California Alumnae Association, United Architects of the Philippines, Metro Stonerich Corporation, and the City Government of Marawi.
