By Analou De Vera The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against the consumption of six unregistered drug products that might be harmful to one's health. (L-R) ChingChunbao Anti-aging Tablets, Tums Peppermint Regular Strength, Butiao Tablets, Ma Pak Leung Viga-Pro Pill, Bull Head Brand Feng Sai Gu Tong Ling, Yu Ren Tang Rheuma-Herbs Plus (FDA / MANILA BULLETIN) The agency identified the unregistered drug products as ChingChunbao Anti-aging Tablets, Butiao Tablets, Ma Pak Leung Viga-Pro Pill, Bull Head Brand Feng Sai Gu Tong Ling, Yu Ren Tang Rheuma-Herbs Plus, and Tums Peppermint Regular Strength. The FDA said that its post marketing surveillance activities verified that the said products have not been issued with Certificate of Product Registration. The quality, safety, and efficacy of the products cannot be guaranteed by the FDA since they have not gone through evaluation and testing process. "These violative products may pose potential danger or injury if administered. In light of the above, the public is advised not to purchase the aforementioned violative products" the FDA noted in its advisory no. 2019-145. "All local government units and law enforcement agencies are requested to ensure that these products are not sold or made available in their localities or areas of jurisdiction," it added. Until the products have secured proper authorization, the FDA warned all concerned establishments not to distribute the drug products, otherwise regulatory actions and sanctions will be strictly pursued. The agency also reminded the public to be vigilant with other products that are unregistered with FDA. "To check if a drug product has been registered with FDA, use the embedded Search feature of the FDA website accessible at www.fda.gov.ph," the agency said.
