CEBU CITY — The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) headquarters is now Camp General Arcadio Maxilom, after a Cebuano general who fought Spanish and American forces in 1800s.

The bust of Maxilom was unveiled and blessed last Monday at the grounds of provincial police office in Barangay Sudlon here.

Maxilom, a native of Tuburan town, was the last Filipino general to surrender to the American troops.

His grandchildren, retired Colonel Danilo Maxilom Talugon and Dr. Josephus Maxilom Gonzales, attended the unveiling of the bust.

Brig. Gen. Noel Gillamac, director of the Internal Affairs in Central Visayas, also attended the ceremony.

Gillamac had campaigned for the naming of the headquarters after Maxilom when he was the provincial police in 2014.

He said naming the headquarters after a prominent figure will help the public to easily recognize the police office.

Gillamac cited as examples the headquarters of the Cebu City Police Office and Police Regional Office in Central Visayas, which are named Camp Sotero Cabahug and Camp Sergio Osmeña, respectively.
