Igorot kids taught traditional dances

By Rizaldy Comanda MANKAYAN, Benguet – The three-day Summer Theater Arts Workshop introduced the rich culture of the Cordilleras to over 400 children from this town. (Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company / MANILA BULLETIN) (Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company / MANILA BULLETIN) Butch Mendizabal, communication officer, said this year’s workshop was facilitated by the Lepanto National High School (LNHS) Gambang Theater Guild members. Nurtured by Lepanto Mining, the Gambang Theater Guild is a school-based theater arts group that has been gaining nationwide recognition. It has bagged medals at the Benguet Adivay Festival, performed in national platforms including the Philippine Mining International Conference 2017 held in Manila. The group also represented the Cordillera region in the Dance Xchange: The Philippine International Dance Workshop and Festival 2018 held in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
