By MB Online Three Filipino chocolate makers have received high recognitions from the London-based Academy of Chocolate. Auro Chocolate's "100% Cacao Unsweetened Chocolate" and Dalareich Food Products' "Dalareich 100% Unsweetened Chocolate" each won a gold award in the 11th Academy of Chocolate (AOC) awards under the "Drinking Chocolate - Plain, for milk-based drinks" category. (FACEBOOK / MANILA BULLETIN) (FACEBOOK / MANILA BULLETIN) Malagos Agri-ventures Corporation's "100% Unsweetened Chocolate" meanwhile bagged a bronze award in the same category. Dalareich Food Products proprietor, Dalareich Polot, expressed joy upon receiving a gold award from the international chocolate body -- a first for the Philippines. "Thank you so much for all your warm congratulations and support to us...I credit the award to my parents...that 100% Unsweetened Chocolate (tableya) is not just a product for us, but a gift..that 'simple' tableya --able to sustain our family and sent all of us to college," Polo wrote on Facebook. The Bohol chocolate maker then acknowledged cacao farmers and tablea makers for their efforts to put tablea on the map. "A lot of people might think that 'tableya' is just 'tableya' but that's the purest chocolate that you can have, since it's the 100% cacao. This is one of the products that Filipinos should be proud of and bring to the world. Now, Filipinos proved that "Tableya" deserved a GOLD AWARD! <3," Polot wrote on Facebook. "To all tablea makers out there and cacao farmers! There's HOPE and a lot of possibilities can happen! Let's keep dreaming!" she continued. 'More awards' Aside from bagging a gold, Davao's Auro Chocolate also received eight other awards for their products. Under the "Bars - Tree to Bar" category, Auro's "70% Dark Chocolate — Saloy Origin" and "70% Dark Chocolate — Tupi Origin" won silver awards, while their "70% Dark Chocolate — Paquibato Origin" bagged bronze. Auro's "64% Dark Chocolate with Cacao Nibs", and "42% Milk Chocolate w/ Cacao Nibs" received bronze in the "Bars - Bean to Bar Season" and "Milk Bean to Bar Flavored" categories, respectively. The Davao chocolate maker’s “32% Mango White Chocolate with Pili Nut" and "32% Moringa White Chocolate with Pinipig" also got bronze in the "White Bean to Bar Flavoured" classification. In the "Spreads - Caramel, Fruit, Milk Chocolate Spreads" bracket, Auro's Roasted White Chocolate with Cashew Spread bagged a bronze award. Malagos, meanwhile, received four more bronzes, three in the "Filled Chocolates" category, namely "72% Dark Chocolate Ganache" (Plain Truffle), "Rum Praline" (Alcohol Ganache)," and "Almonds in Couverture Dark Chocolate" (Panned and Enrobed Fruit and Nuts), and one in the "Bars - Tree to Bar" category that is the "72% Dark Chocolate – Heirloom HCP16". The Academy of Chocolate, which recognizes the finest chocolates across the globe, was founded in 2015 by five leading chocolate professionals in Britain. AOC, according to their website, "campaigns for better chocolate and to promote a greater awareness of the difference between fine chocolate and the mass-produced chocolate confectionery which most of us eat."
