Bar workers, 8 others nabbed in QC buy-bust operations Two bar entertainers and eight other drug suspects were nabbed after yielding more than P25,000 worth of illegal drugs in separate buy-bust operations in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City on Tuesday night. Police Lt. Col. Joel Villanueva, chief of Batasan Police Station (PS-6), said Iren Fabay, 30, Rommel Del Carmen, 36, and live-in partners Rosauro Del Carmen, 37, and Josephine Magat, 43, were rounded up in a drug sting at St. Vincent Street around 8:30 p.m. Probers said Fabay, who works at a nightspot as a guest relations officer, and the younger Del Carmen were identified as illegal drug peddlers among bars in their area. Operatives of PS-6 Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted a drug bust against the group which led to their arrested after authorities seized from them nine sachets of shabu amounting to P5,000. More than two hours after, same operatives collared in another buy-bust Maricris Dela Cruz, 32, who was also a bar entertainer, and her cohorts Agustin Boral, 56, a mechanic; Rodel Dalaquit, 36, and Raymond Galando, 30, both construction workers; and John Echavez, 35. An undercover cop transacted with the group at Zuzuareggi Street around 10:50 p.m. and purchased P200 worth of illegal drugs. After the deal, officers immediately nabbed the suspects who yielded 11 sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P20,400, some drug paraphernalia, and the buy-bust money. Arrested drug suspects are currently detained at the Quezon City Police Station 6 while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against them. (Alexandria San Juan) Three drug personalities killed in buy-bust op shootout Three alleged drug personalities were killed after reportedly fighting back with police during a buy-bust operation in Navotas City on Wednesday morning. The fatalities were identified as Jay-ar Jumola, Arnel Bagamasbad, and a certain Gurang; while their cohort, a certain Vandam, remains at large, police said. Jumola was the brother of Anthony Jumola, who was found dead in March 2017, two days after he was accosted by barangay officers for being drunk, his family said. Jumola was also reportedly caught possessing shabu. The police report said that the suspects fought back during the operation. However, Jumola’s mother, Christina, did not believe this. She said a witness heard her son pleading, “Sir, mag-aaral pa ako, ‘wag nyo akong patayin.” She added that Jumola sustained black eyes and a gunshot wound. Christina told reporters that “what happened to him was like what happened to Anthony.” Anthony was found dead at a morgue in Navotas. He sustained a black eye. His face was also covered with tape while all his fingernails were removed, his family added. Investigation showed that members of Navotas City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted a buy-bust against the four in an alley in Barangay North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) at around 2:50 a.m. The police report said that when the suspects sensed that “they dealing with drug police operatives , they fired at ,” which prompted the police to retaliate. Recovered from the crime scene were an ARMSCOR .45 caliber pistol, a Colt .45 caliber pistol, an STI .45 caliber pistol, which allegedly belonged to the suspects, police added. Also found were five pieces of suspected shabu, 21 fired cartridge cases, five deformed bullets, and one lead fragment. (Joseph Almer Pedrajas) Tricycle driver dead in road mishap in Marikina A tricycle driver died when the motorcycle he was driving slammed to a tree after he lost control of the vehicle in Marikina City early Wednesday morning. Police said that 19-year-old Lloyd Somido was traveling from west to east direction of B.G. Molina Street at around 4:30 a.m. on board a Suzuki motorcycle. Somido, a police report showed, was only a few meters away from the corner of Paraiso Street in Barangay Parang when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided to a tree at the south side portion of the road. Due to the force of impact, the motorcycle was damaged with some of its parts were detached and or broken. Somido, meanwhile, sustained multiple injuries on different parts of his body. He was brought to Saint Vincent Hospital by emergency rescue personnel, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
