Ex-Zamboanga Del Norte mayor charged with Malversation

By Czarina Nicole Ong-Ki Former Dapitan Mayor Dominador Garcia Jalosjos Jr. of Zamboanga Del Norte was charged with malversation before the Sandiganbayan Second Division due to his reported failure to return a shotgun belonging to the government after his term. He was slapped with a single violation of Article 217 of the Revised Penal Code in the charge sheet filed by Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officer II Jinky Anarna. Jalosjos Jr. had one unit 12-gauge USAS-12 Daewoo semi-automatic shotgun with serial number F600155 placed under his custody sometime on February 2013. But after his term ended, he failed to return the shotgun, which was worth around P58,450, despite demands to do so. As a result, Anarna wrote in the charge sheet that he caused "prejudice and damage" to the government. Jalosjos Jr. has to pay P60,000 for his provisional liberty.
