The Caloocan City government inaugurated Wednesday evening its first “breathable and family-friendly park.”

The Caloocan People's Park is a 6,229-meter-square space which is surrounded by trees that give a breathable space for people living amid commercial buildings and could serve as a quick nature escape for the residents of the city, the public information said.

The park's playground and dancing water fountain can keep the children busy and entertained; while its fitness equipment can be used by other family members who are health enthusiasts.

The park also has enough space for picnics and other leisure, including physical activities: jogging, Zumba and yoga.

The local government said it is the first-family friendly park in the city because it has various activities every member can do. It is open to the public from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. to give goers enough time.

Also, a four-story commercial building will soon rise in the 4,000-square-meter remaining space beside the park. It will include an auditorium where other activities may be conducted, the local government bared.

In an interview, Mayor Oca Malapitan said that the park "is dedicated to the residents."

"Ang laki laki ng Caloocan, pero wala kaming park? Para sa mga mamamayan ng Caloocan yan para may pupuntahan sila para maglibang," he said.

The construction of the park started after the building of the new city hall was completed in 2017.
