First most wanted criminal of Jose Abad Santos Police Station caught after 11 years of hiding
The first most wanted criminal in Jose Abad Santos Police Station was nabbed by police after 11 years of hiding in Manila on Thursday early morning.
Police arrested Armando Bonifacio, 59 construction worker and resident of Solis Street, Tondo, Manila at around 7:00 a.m. on May 23 along Jose Abad Santos Avenue near corner Tecson Street, Tondo, Manila.
Prior to his arrest, operatives received a tip from an informant about his whereabouts.
The informant said he saw Bonifacio waiting for a public utility jeep in front of a gasoline station along Jose Abad Santos Avenue near corner Tecson Street, Tondo, Manila.
The police immediately went along the area and they saw the suspect who was about to ride the jeepney.
Bonifacio is charged with rape according to the arrest warrant issued by Judge Wilhelmina T. Melanio – Arcega of Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 5 with criminal case number 07-258059.
He is currently detained at Jose Abad Santos' Police Station custodial facility pending the return of warrant of arrest and commitment order. (Erma Edera)
Three construction workers nabbed for illegal drug use
Three construction workers were picked up by Manila police after they were caught in the act of having a drug session last Wednesday evening.
The suspects were identified as Michael Buenaobra, 40; Juanito Satosidad, 30; and Jaypee Masicampo, 25.
They were arrested along Sto. Niño Street near corner Moriones Street, Barangay 43, Tondo at 9:45 p.m. on May 22.
According to the police report, elements of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Moriones Tondo Police conducted the anti-criminality operation at the said area.
Coincidentally, they chanced upon the suspects sniffing “shabu”.
Three small sachets of the illegal drugs were confiscated from them.
The seized items were then submitted to the Crime Laboratory of the Manila Police District (MPD) headquarters for examination.
Meanwhile, the three arrestees were temporarily detained at the station’s custodial facility for booking and documentation.
A violation of Section 11, Article II of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (Ria Fernandez)
Retired police officer shot dead in Navotas
A retired police officer was gunned down by still unidentified men onboard a motorcycle in Navotas City, a night after a barangay councilor was also shot dead.
P/Col. Rolando Balasabas, Navotas City police chief, identified him as Benjamin Ramos, 54, a retired police officer assigned at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Investigation showed that Ramos, who was onboard his motorcycle, was traveling along M. Naval Street in Barangay Daanghari, Navotas City on Tuesday at around 7 p.m. when two men onboard a motorcycle suddenly appeared behind him.
The report added that one of the men immediately shot Ramos several times, killing him instantly.
Recovered from the crime scene were seven fired cartridge cases of a still unknown firearm.
Meantime, a barangay councilor identified as Roel Hernandez was also gunned down on Monday at around 9:20 p.m.
Police said that Hernandez was driving his tricycle along H. Lopez Street, Barangay North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) when a man onboard a motorcycle also shot him dead.
Police added that Hernandez was an elected barangay councilor of Barangay 363, Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Motorcycle rider dead in hit-and-run in Valenzuela
A motorcycle rider died after being sideswiped by a dump truck, the driver of which fleeing after the accident, in Valenzuela City Wednesday night.
The fatality was identified as John Paul Diolola, 24, a grocery store merchandiser, and resident of Data Street Paso de Blas, Valenzuela. The driver of the dump truck is yet to be identified.
Initial investigation disclosed that while the victim was traversing the northbound lane of Mac Arthur Highway, a dump truck going in the same direction sideswiped the victim's motorcycle in front of the Fatima University Medical Center at around 10:30 p.m.
On impact, both the victim and his motorcycle fell down onto the road, causing them to be run over by the dump truck's wheel.
The driver of the dump truck stopped the truck then fled on foot towards an unknown direction. The truck's temporary plate number was noted by witnesses, the investigation said.
The victim was brought to Valenzuela Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival. (Dylan Afuang)
Six personalities nabbed in buy-bust op
Six newly identified drug personalities allegedly engaging in a pot session were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City on Thursday morning.
Police identified the suspects as Alexander Dimasangkay, 42, tricycle driver; Christina Robedillo, 36, jobless; Crismel Basbas, 18, driver; Manuel Ligtao, 48, beautician; John Enclona, 21, construction worker; and Krizia Babes, 19, jobless. All of them were residents of Miraculous Street, Bagong Silang, Caloocan.
Initial investigation showed that operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted a buy-bust operation along Miraculous Street which led to the arrest of Dimasangkay and his cohort Robedillo at around 3 a.m. on May 23.
A plastic sachet containing suspected shabu that the suspects allegedly conspired to sell were seized from them including the P1,000 used as buy-bust money
During the operation, the four other suspects were caught allegedly engaging in a pot session which resulted to their arrest.
Seized from the suspects were four sachets of suspected shabu, four pieces of aluminum foil, two unsealed sachets containing residue of shabu, and a disposable lighter.
The arrested suspects and the suspected drug paraphernalia are now under police custody.
Violation of the RA 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects. (Dylan Afuang)
