LOOK: Dog in Pampanga guards caretaker till death

By MB Online A dog in Pampanga was dubbed by netizens as "Hachiko of the Philippines" after a photo of it looking over the coffin of its caretaker went viral Tuesday. (FACEBOOK/ MANILA BULLETIN) (FACEBOOK/ MANILA BULLETIN) The dog in the viral photo, Buboy, was owned by Carmelito Marcelo, a professor at Mabalacat City College. One of Marcelo’s colleagues, Ma Kristina Paola Demafelix posted the now-viral photo of Buboy on Facebook. Demafelix, in her post, said Buboy would always wait for the professor outside their faculty room. She said that Buboy was not originally Marcelo's but the two had been inseparable when the professor was still alive. "Kahit sa mga klase ni Sir, nakaabang at minsan kasama pa si Buboy. Palagi ring binibigyan ng professor si Buboy ng makakain," she shared. Marcelo would also still go to school even if he has no classes just to see and feed Buboy, according to Demafelix. What’s heartbreaking was after Marcelo has passed away on May 18, Demafelix said Buboy would still wait for his caretaker outside the faculty room. Demafelix pitied Buboy and decided to bring it to Marcelo's funeral. Demafelix promised that Buboy would still be taken care of by the school community. As of posting, the post has now garnered more than 121,000 likes on Facebook.
