Cavite Board of Canvassers wraps up vote tally, proclaims Jonvic Remulla, Jolo Revilla

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite -- Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla Jr. and Ramon Jolo Revilla III were proclaimed on Thursday morning by the Provincial Commission on Elections (Comelec) as the elected governor and vice governor, respectively, of Cavite province.

(FACEBOOK / MANILA BULLETIN) With the proclamation, the Cavite Provincial Board of Canvassers had wrapped up the vote tally. The tally of election returns was delayed for three days due to the secure digital (SD) card glitches that have affected at least four cities and one municipality of the province. Cavite Comelec Supervisor Arnulfo H. Pioquinto and Provincial Chief Prosecutor Gavino B. Mapanoo, who is seating as the vice chairman of the Canvassing Board, led the proclamation of Remulla and Revilla that was set at 10 a.m.Thursday. The proclamation was made after the election return transmittal of the province's seven cities and 16 municipalities to the Canvassing Board had been completed. Cavite City, the Districts of Imus, Dasmarinas and General Trias and the municipality of Alfonso were the last to have transmitted the returns, it was gathered. The data showed that Remulla of Nacionalista Party won by 330,197 votes against his closest rival, former Governor Erineo "Ayong" Maliksi of the Liberal Party. The 50-year-old Remulla got 825,485 votes while Maliksi, 81, had 495,288 and the two other candidates, Roberto Borral and Gerbie Fenequito Ber Ado, both Independents, had 8,764 and 8,277, respectively. The 31-year-old Revilla of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), Remulla's running mate, who was unopposed in the race, got 1,038,554. With the proclamation, Remulla said "I am ready to serve Cavite province." He also called earlier for unity among political leaders and the citizens "for peace, developments, and progress to reign in the province." Remulla was elected governor twice in 2010 and 2013. Also proclaimed by the Comelec in the last two days were Dasmarinas (4th District) Representative-elect Pidi Barzaga, and Board Members (BMs) Vale Encabo and Jun de la Cuesta and incumbent 6th District (General Trias) Rep. Luis Ferrer IV and BMs Kerby Salazar and Jango Grepo, incumbent 8th District Rep. Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino and BMs Rainier Ambion and Virgilio Varias, incumbent 3rd District Rep. Alex "AA" Advincula and BMs Jeffrey Asistio and Dennis Lacson, incumbent Gov. Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla as 7th District representative, and BMs Ping Remulla, a son of Boying; and Angelito Langit, incumbent Carmona Mayor Dahlia Loyola as 5th District representative and BMs Ivee Jayne Reyes Alston Kevin Anarna and incumbent 1st District Rep. Boy Blue Abaya and BMs Davey Chua and Romel Enriquez and 2nd District (Bacoor) Rep. Strike B. Revilla and BMs Aba Gawaran and Edwin Malvar.
