Bossing Vic still can't believe he has a mayor for a son

Comedy icon Vic Sotto couldn’t help but feel proud of his son Vico, who was recently proclaimed as mayor of Pasig City.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Vic admitted that Vico’s triumph has not “fully sunk in” for him yet.

“Siguro pagdating ng July, ‘pag nakaupo na siya inauguration, siguro doon ko pa lang ma-re-realize na, ‘Aba, may anak pala akong mayor.’ Nakakatuwa,” Vic told ABS-CBN News.
The 29-year-old Sotto (AKSYON) successfully fulfilled his campaign slogan “Iba Naman” after ousting incumbent Mayor Robert “Bobby” Eusebio (NP), a race dubbed as “David versus Goliath.”
Vico, who ended the nearly three-decade reign of the Eusebio family, garnered 209, 370 votes while Bobby had 121, 556 votes.
“Palagay ko talagang sang-ayon sila (supporters) doon sa campaign ni Vico na, una sa lahat ‘Iba Naman’, pangalawa, ‘yung pagbabago, change,” Vic said.
Vic also discussed his son’s advocacies and issues he vowed to take action such as health care and benefits, corruption, education, and the wider opportunities in both eastern and western parts of the city.
The older Sotto said he gave his 100 percent support to his son because he believes in his advocacies for the city.
“Marami siyang ikinuwento e. Kasi marami siyang nakita noong nagkonsenhal siya, nung mapasok siya sa city hall, marami siyang nakitang hindi tama na kung itatama ay maraming matutulungan talaga,” Vic said.
The actor-comedian also admitted that Vico experienced “bullying” during his term as Pasig councilor.
“Although, konsehal pa lang siya nabu-bully na yan e. I don’t know for whatever reason. indi siya binibigyan ng pondo for his program, for his projects. Although, nakaganda naman dahil nung nakaupo siya as konsehal, ang pinagtuunan niya ng pansin ay 'yung government transparency which is yung FOI, freedom of information, na sa kagandahan ay naipasa niya,” Vic said.
Filed by Vico last June 2018, Ordinance No. 37 or the “Pasig Transparency Mechanism Ordinance” provides a mechanism for the disclosure of public records, including financial documents and contracts, of the city.
The passage of the ordinance, which Vico has been working on since 2015, made Pasig the first city in Metro Manila to have a version of the FOI bill.
That his son was going to go up against a “well-oiled machine” in the Eusebios gave Vic all the more reason to support his son in the mayoralty race.
“Hindi ako puwedeng panghinaan ng loob kasi nakikita ko kung gaano ka-set ‘yung mind, kung gaano siya katapang, kung gaano siya ka-determinado,” the older Sotto said.
Meanwhile, Roman Romulo (AKSYON) will return to Congress to represent the lone district of Pasig City after winning against incumbent Rep. Ricky Eusebio (NP).
Romulo triumphed over Eusebio by a whopping 225,217 votes.
Incumbent Vice Mayor Iyo Caruncho Bernardo (PDP-Laban) retained his post with 266,620 votes after running unopposed. #MatalinongBoto2019
